After a long vacay...

I have returned to stimulate your minds with my witty partisan joshing. If only I had been on vacation these last three months! In all actuality, things have been crazy busy at work and I am spinning up for a deployment to Iraq, for which I will be leaving on 31 May. In the last few months I have been spending as much time as possible with my boyfriend who returned from the desert in January. Now that I'm heading out, I've decided to revisit the old Paradox, as it will give me something to focus on other than the war while I'm out there. (Don't worry, I'll still be focused on the war 12+ hours per day.)

I have to admit, one thing that has kept me from coming back here is the sheer volume of stuff to write about. It's daunting... where do I begin? The GOP media blitz proclaiming torture to have been essential in our intelligence gathering efforts? Tea Parties? The current administration backpedaling on what we took as sincere campaign promises of transparency, reversal of Don't Ask Don't Tell, and Gitmo tribunals? Wanda Sykes hitting the ball out of the freakin' park at the White House Correspondents' Dinner and the subsequent backlash? Seriously... there's a lot. I'm going to dip my toes in with a little of this and a little of that. While I'm working on that post, enjoy last night's SNL cold open, which reunited our old humor standby, GW Bush, with a newly overly visible Dick Cheney:
